Role

Diversified Site Services LLC is actively seeking an experienced Junior Estimator to join our fast-growing team! As a Junior Estimator you will be working to prepare and submit bids mainly focused on Federal Projects. The Junior Estimator will also be responsible for assisting the Project Managers with tracking quantities, change orders, project scheduling, preparation of cost reports, contact preparation, onsite coordination, quality control and all areas of contact management. This role will report to Project Manager.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in commercial/industrial construction estimating

• trade school or college degree in construction a plus.

• ability to develop and present construction estimates

• proficient computer skills: MS Office, Word, Excel, Procore. Estimating software/job costing systems: Building Connected, is preferred but not required

• willingness to learn new software

• ability to read plans, schematics, shop drawings, specifications, and technical manuals

• knowledge of all types of contacts including but not limited to Unit Price, Fixed Price, Cost Plus

• knowledge of local building codes, specifications, and regulations

• estimating experience of Federal and municipal spaces preferred but not required

• ability to measure work in quantities

• demonstrates critical thinking and complex problem solving skills

• attention to mathematical, analytical skills with accuracy

• ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written form, with subcontractors, estimators, peers & D.S.S. management

• self-starter, highly organized, detail-oriented & can manage projects independently

• knowledge of construction materials and suppliers

• skilled in time management to prioritize daily workload and meet deadlines

• lead with integrity and demonstrate the upmost professionalism in how you represent yourself and the company

• thrives working independently as well as on a team, collaborating with others to achieve project goals

• must have a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate company vehicles

• attend pre-construction site walk through for potential projects

• attend pre-construction and construction job site meetings to review details specific to project

• some travel may be required: attend pre-construction job site meetings, site walk throughs to review details specific to project

• assist with preparation, submission and delivery of construction proposals, tenders and estimates

• assist with the development and administration of project contracts, budgets, quality control, job costing, and value engineering

• assist in the review and interpretation of proposed designs, engineering drawings and specification for functionality and appropriateness, initiate questions to the engineer.

• assists in the issuance of purchase orders, contracts, schedule, change orders

• accurately review purchase orders, contracts, schedule, change orders

• daily collaboration with internal team and partners

• visit sites, warehouses, and other venues to gather essential information

• source new subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners

• foster relationships with key vendors, subcontractors, engineers

• drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures to promote efficiency in estimating
